Managing dependants in your Member Centre

To view, add or deactivate dependants, simply click on Benefits in your Member Centre dashboard then select Dependants in the dropdown.

To add a dependant, we'll ask you everything we need to know. Just click on the 'Add dependant' button. The Effective date is the tricky part.

Effective date: Determining eligibility for claims

An effective date is the date that your benefits started. Dependants are eligible based on your start date or the date they became your dependant, whichever is later. 

This date is important as it will impact eligibility for claim reimbursements. If your dependant has a start date that's later than the date of expense, the expense will be ineligible. 

If you entered the wrong date, you'll need to let us know so that we can change it for you because we'll need a justified reason for changing it in the paper trail. Yeah, CRA's rules create work for both of us!

Deactivate a Dependant 

If something changes in your life and a dependant should no longer be effective, you can deactivate them by viewing your dependants and clicking the Deactivate button.

Deactivated dependants will no longer be qualified for reimbursement of eligible claims.
